MTU
The MTU women’s basketball team pulled out a 79-70 overtime victory over Minnesota-Duluth last night. The Huskies led by eight after the third quarter, but the Bulldogs surged back in the fourth quarter. Tech took command of the extra period early on, and held on for the win. Hannah Stoll led MTU with 18 points. Lindsay Winter and Kelli Guy each added 17, and Winter pulled down 11 rebounds.

For the second straight week, Winter has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Player of the Week, after leading the Huskies to wins at Minnesota State-Moorhead and Minnesota-Crookston.

The Michigan Tech volleyball team is headed to the NCAA tournament. After a strong late run in the regular season, and a runner-up finish at the GLIAC tournament, the Huskies were awarded an at-large NCAA bid. They’re seeded eighth in the Midwest Region, and will open against top-seeded Lewis in the first round next week.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons struggled at both ends of the court, and lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers 116-88 last night. The game was even more lopsided than the score indicated. Cleveland scored 101 points in the first three quarters, and led by 39 points before Detroit hit some baskets against the Cavaliers reserves in the final stanza. The Pistons will play at Oklahoma City Friday night.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings host the Edmonton Oilers tomorrow night. Pregame coverage begins at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.
