NFL Players Ratify Contract – Monday Sports Wrap

COVID-19

It could be at least two months before major sporting events resume. Yesterday, the Centers for Disease Control recommended that all public gatherings of 50 people or more be canceled for at least the next eight weeks, as a way to limit the spread of COVID-19. The NBA and NHL had initially suspended their seasons for 30 days. Major League Baseball had delayed the start of its regular season two weeks from opening day on March 26th.

NFL

NFL players have narrowly ratified a new collective bargaining agreement. The deal runs through 2030, promising a decade of labor peace between players and owners. Major changes include the expansion of the regular season to 17 games beginning in the 2021 season. That will be offset by a reduction in training camp practices, and possible elimination of one preseason game.
