NMU Men Fall in NCAA Regional Hoops Semifinal – Monday Sports Wrap

High School

Jeffers and Ironwood will meet in the Division Four basketball regional semifinals tonight at 6:00 at Houghton High School.

College Basketball

The Northern Michigan men’s basketball team fell 93-83 to McKendree in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional semifinals last evening.

The Division I men’s tournament pairings were announced last night. Michigan State is seeded seventh in the East, and will face 10th-seed USC Friday. The University of Michigan did not make the cut. The Wolverines will open the NIT tomorrow against Toledo.

NHL

The Red Wings held off the Bruins 5-3 yesterday. Detroit scored the game’s first four goals. Boston responded with three straight, before Andrew Copp’s empty-netter sealed the win. Ville Husso made 30 saves.

The Wings visit the Predators tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 7:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Pistons will host the Pacers this evening. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

MLB

The Tigers staved off the Twins 8-7 yesterday. Detroit scored all their runs in the first three innings. Ryan Kreidler, Eric Haase and César Hernández each drove in two runs, and Jermaine Palacios homered. Matthew Boyd gave up one hit over four scoreless innings.

The Tigers split their squad for games against the Rays and Orioles this afternoon.

The Brewers outscored the Cubs 5-3. Luke Voit and Brice Turang homered.

Milwaukee faces the Reds today. Corbin Burnes will start for the Brewers.
