MLB – Tigers
New Tiger Daniel Norris held the Orioles to four hits and one run over 7-1/3rd innings, as Detroit defeated Baltimore 6-1 yesterday. J.D. Martinez staked Norris to an early lead, with a three-run homer in the first inning. Bruce Rondon relieved Norris in the eighth, and needed just two pitches to induce a double play to end the inning. Alex Wilson pitched a perfect ninth to earn the save.

The Tigers take today off, and open a home set against the division-leading Royals tomorrow night. Justin Verlander will pitch against Danny Duffy. Hear the first pitch at 7:08 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

Kyle Lohse couldn’t make it through five innings, as the Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Chicago Cubs 4-1 yesterday. Lohse gave up all four Chicago runs on nine hits as he suffered his 13th loss of the season.

The Brewers open a home series against the Padres tonight. Wily Peralta will pitch against Tyson Ross.

NFL – Lions Open Camp
The Detroit Lions will become the last NFL team to open playing camp, as workouts begin today at the team’s training facility. The Packers began workouts Thursday at Saint Norbert College.

Equipment issue for Calumet High School football players will take place tonight at Agassiz Field. Juniors and seniors should be there at 6:00. Freshmen and sophomores should report at 6:30. The first Calumet football practice will take place next Monday morning at 8:00.
