High School
The high school volleyball tournament begins tonight, although there’s just one game on the schedule locally. Lake Linden-Hubbell faces Baraga at 7:00 at Ontonagon in the opening round of the Class D District. The Class C tournament opens Wednesday. Kingsford plays at Escanaba as the Class B District starts tonight.

Finlandia
The Finlandia University men’s soccer team was shut out 3-0 at St. Mary’s University in Minnesota yesterday. The Lions will play at Hamline University this afternoon.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings host the Tampa Bay Lightning tomorrow night. Faceoff is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons host the Indiana Pacers tomorrow.

MLB
The Kansas City Royals scored twice in the ninth inning to tie the game, then exploded for five runs in the top of the 12th inning to beat the New York Mets 7-2 last night. The win in game five of the fall classic gave KC its first World Series title in 30 years.

NFL
The Detroit Lions lost an ugly 45-10 game to the Kansas City Chiefs yesterday morning in London. Receiver Calvin Johnson left the game with an ankle injury, and will be evaluated today.

The Green Bay Packers suffered their first loss of the season, falling to the Broncos 29-10 at Denver last night. An aggressive Denver defense held Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers to just 77 yards passing.

The Indianapolis Colts and Carolina Panthers meet in tonight’s game. Kickoff is at 8:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
