GLHL

The Great Lakes Hockey League tournament concludes today. This year’s tourney is being hosted by the Calumet Wolverines at the Colosseum.

Here is the schedule:
Group A: Fond du Lac Bears (1), Eagle River Falcons (4), Calumet Wolverines (5), De Pere Deacons (8)
Group B: Portage Lake Pioneers (2), Mosinee Papermakers (3), Fox Cities Ice Dogs (6), Marquette Mutineers (7)

Friday:
Game 1 – 10:30 – Fond du Lac pounded De Pere 12-1.
Game 2 – 11:00 – Portage Lake blasted Marquette 10-2.
Game 3 – 1:30 – Eagle River defeated Calumet 4-2.
Game 4 – 2:00 – Mosinee got past Fox Cities 5-4.
Game 5 – 8:00 – Fond du Lac downed Eagle River 6-2.
Game 6 – 10:30 – Portage Lake edged Mosinee 7-6 in overtime.

Saturday:
Game 7 – 9:00 – Calumet edged De Pere 5-4 in overtime.
Game 8 – 11:30 – Marquette defeated Fox Cities 6-3.
Game 9 – 2:00 – Calumet downed Eagle River 6-2.
Game 10 – 4:30 – Mosinee dispatched Marquette 9-5
Game 11 – 7:00 – Portage Lake slipped past Calumet 4-3 in overtime.
Game 12 – 10:00 – Mosinee shaded Fond du Lac 4-3.

Championship game today:
Game 13 – 1:00 – Portage Lake v Mosinee – Colosseum

College Hockey

Michigan Tech forward Nick Nardella will not return for his senior season. Nardella had an assist in his debut with the ECHL’s Cincinnati Cyclones last night. Former goaltender Husky Mark Sinclair got the win in a 5-1 Cyclones victory.

NHL

The Red Wings visit the Maple Leafs tonight. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

College Basketball

San Diego State and Connecticut will play for the NCAA Division I men’s basketball title. The Huskies eliminated Miami of Florida 72-59 in one semifinal Saturday, while the Aztecs slipped past Florida Atlantic 72-71. The championship game will be played Monday evening at 9:20.

The NCAA Division I women’s title will be decided today. LSU will play Iowa at 3:30.

NBA

The Pistons have dropped 20 of their last 22 games, and visit the Magic this evening.

MLB

The Tigers suffered an ugly 12-2 loss to the Rays Saturday. Tampa Bay scored seven runs in the third inning off Spencer Turnbull and Trey Wingenter.

Detroit wraps up that series at Tampa Bay this afternoon. Joey Wentz will face Jeffrey Springs. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers rallied for three runs in the eighth inning, and defeated the Cubs 3-1. William Contreras’ two-run single was the game-winner. Brandon Woodruff tossed six innings, giving up a run on three hits.

Milwaukee concludes that series at Chicago this afternoon. Eric Lauer will start against Jameson Taillon.
