MLB
The Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals’ scheduled game in Detroit yesterday was postponed because of wintry weather. It will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader on April 20th. The Tigers head to Chicago today for the White Sox’ home opener. Jordan Zimmermann will start against James Shields. Pregame coverage begins at 3:45 on 99.3 The Lift. The weather may not be much better in Chicago today than it was in Detroit yesterday, with temperatures in the upper 30s, and a chance of rain or snow.

Carlos Martinez pitched into the ninth inning, as the Saint Louis Cardinals shut out the Milwaukee Brewers 6-0 last night. Jhoulys Chacín took the loss for Milwaukee. He was charged with all six runs before leaving in the sixth inning. The Brewers open a four-game home set against the Cubs tonight. Brent Suter will pitch against Jon Lester.

Outfielder Christian Yelich left last night’s game in the seventh inning with a sore oblique muscle. He’ll be evaluated today.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons’ five-game winning streak ended last night with a 115-108 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. Anthony Tolliver led Detroit with 25 points. The loss officially eliminated Detroit from post-season play. The Pistons host the Dallas Mavericks tomorrow. Pregame coverage starts at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings entertain the Montreal Canadiens in their next-to-last game of the season tonight. We’ll join the game after Tigers baseball on 99.3 The Lift.

With the Wings’ season in its final days, Detroit has sent forward Evgeny Svechnikov, defenseman Joe Hicketts and goaltender Tom McCollum back to the Grand Rapids Griffins, to help with their playoff drive.

NFL
The Detroit Lions are bringing in a veteran backup quarterback. Numerous media reports say they’ve agreed to terms with Matt Cassel. Cassel is 35 years old. He spent the past two seasons with the Tennessee Titans. He’ll compete with former University of Michigan quarterback Jake Rudock for Detroit’s backup job.

Team CC
Team Copper Country begins defense of its national title tonight at Green Bay, against the Green Bay Bobcats. Team CC will have the entire roster from the recent state championship run intact, and one addition – Teddy Randell will return from the Lone Star Brahmas. Broadcast coverage will begin around 8:45 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.

The Calumet Wolverines and Portage Lake Pioneers will decide the Gibson Cup series with a third game tomorrow night at Dee Stadium. Our pregame coverage will begin around 6:45 on 97.7 The Wolf and TheWolf.com.
