The Michigan Tech hockey team has gained a new recruit. Defenseman Chris Lipe has announced his commitment to the Huskies. Lipe grew up in Rockford, Michigan, and is playing his second season with the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons’ losing streak reached six games last night, with a tough 108-107 loss to the Charlotte Hornets. Detroit fell behind early, but came back to build an 11-point lead after three quarters. Blake Griffin scored 26 points. The Pistons host the Boston Celtics Saturday night.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings entertain the Ottawa Senators tomorrow night. We’ll join the game in progress after Finlandia basketball on 99.3 The Lift.

NFL

The Detroit Tigers have apparently found their shortstop for next season. There are multiple reports that the club has signed a one-year deal with veteran Jordy Mercer, who has played the past seven seasons for the Pirates.
