The Detroit Tigers’ game against the Chicago White Sox was suspended after eight innings with the score tied 3-3 last night. The game started late because of rain, and was delayed again for more than an hour after the second inning. It was still raining when Nick Castellanos tied the contest with an RBI single in the eighth inning. Umpires suspended the contest before starting the ninth. The game will be completed at 2:10 this afternoon, and will be followed by today’s regularly scheduled game. Anibal Sanchez will pitch against Jose Quintana in the regularly-scheduled contest. Hear the action on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

Weather wasn’t the only source of drama in Chicago yesterday. Before the game, the White Sox announced that starting pitcher Chris Sale had been sent home because of a “non-violent” clubhouse issue. Chicago was scheduled to play the game in throwback uniforms based on their notoriously ugly mid-70s “leisure suit” design. Unconfirmed reports say that Sale was so upset by the uniforms’ appearance that he cut up his, and those of several teammates, so they couldn’t be worn. Instead, the team took the field in their 1980s “beach blanket” uniforms.

Tigers General Manager Al Avila reiterated yesterday that he doesn’t expect to make any significant roster moves before the August 1st non-waiver trade deadline. Avila also again expressed confidence in manager Brad Ausmus.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis hit two home runs, as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Chicago Cubs 6-1 Saturday. Jonathan Lucroy also homered, and Zach Davies gave up a run on just three hit, while pitching into the seventh inning.

The Brewers host the Cubs again this afternoon. Junior Guerra will pitch against Jon Lester.
