MLB

The Tigers cruised to a 6-3 win over the Pirates yesterday. Eduardo Rodriguez allowed two runs over seven innings, and earned the win. Riley Greene’s solo home run put Detroit on the board in the first inning. They took control with a three-run fourth. Jake Rogers closed the scoring with a pinch-hit solo shot in the eighth. Zach Short had two hits, and drove in three runs.

The Tigers have today off, and host the Rays tomorrow night. Reese Olson will pitch against Zack Littell. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

Rodriguez’ agent yesterday reiterated that it was family issues that kept him from approving a potential deadline trade to the Dodgers Tuesday. The family recently settled in the Detroit area, and are comfortable living there.

The Brewers fell 3-2 to the Nationals yesterday. Washington walked it off with a messy play in the bottom of the ninth, when two runs scored following third baseman Andruw Monasterio’s off-line throw that pulled catcher William Contreras off home plate on a potential force play. Tyrone Taylor homered for Milwaukee.

The Brewers entertain the Pirates this evening. Adrian Houser will start against Mitch Keller.
