Ronny Rodriguez’ grand slam home run powered the Detroit Tigers to a 9-6 victory over the Minnesota Twins last night. Rodriguez’ shot brought the Tigers from behind in the sixth inning. Detroit added two in the eighth and two in the ninth to put the game away. Drew VerHagen gave up three runs over six innings, and earned the win. He struck out 11.

The Tigers continue that series in Minnesota tonight. Edwin Jackson will start against Kyle Gibson. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Jordan Lyles led the Milwaukee Brewers to a 6-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks last evening. Lyles turned in six hitless innings. The D-backs’ only run came off Jeremy Jeffress in the ninth. Eric Thames and Keston Hiura homered.

The Brewers will host the Diamondbacks again tonight. Chase Anderson will start against Zac Gallen.

The Detroit Lions remained winless in the NFL preseason, falling 24-20 to the Buffalo Bills last night. Matthew Stafford saw his first action, completing 12 of 19 passes for 137 yards and a touchdown. Matt Prater kicked two field goals, including a 61-yarder.

Detroit suffered two potentially costly injuries. Linebacker Jarrad Davis and center Frank Ragnow both left the game early with leg injuries. They’ll be evaluated today.

The Lions wrap up their preseason schedule Thursday against the Cleveland Browns. Hear the broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.
