MLB
Anibal Sanchez struggled, as the Detroit Tigers lost to the Baltimore Orioles 12-3 yesterday. Sanchez served up five home runs, and was charged with eight runs before leaving the game in the fourth inning. Nicholas Castellanos homered for Detroit.

The Tigers open an interleague series against the Pirates in Pittsburgh tonight. Jordan Zimmermann will start against Trevor Williams. Pregame coverage begins at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit shortstop Jose Iglesias has been placed on the bereavement list because of a death in the family. Third baseman Jeimer Candelario has been called up to fill in. Candelario was obtained from the Chicago Cubs in the trade for Justin Wilson and Alex Avila a week ago.

Steven Souza, Jr.’s home run in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Tampa Bay Rays to a 2-1 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers yesterday.  The shot off Jacob Barnes ruined a fine effort by starter Jimmy Nelson, who gave up one run over eight innings, and struck out nine. Orlando Arcia homered for Milwaukee.

The Brewers begin an interleague set against the Twins in Minnesota this evening. Brent Suter will pitch against Ervin Santana.

The Cubs lost to the Nationals yesterday, so Milwaukee trails Chicago by a half-game in the National League Central Division.

Twilight League
Superior National Bank-Stanton closed the Copper Country Twilight Baseball League regular season with a 7-2 victory over Wolverine-Orbit Saturday. Rob Brooks scattered four hits over six innings to get the win. John Bostwick had two hits and scored twice for Stanton.

The loss knocked Wolverine into the third-seed for the post-season tournament. They’ll open against second-seed Dean Kangas-State Farm tomorrow at 6:30 at the Hancock Driving Park. As the regular-season champion, Stanton will host REL-Mohawk Technologies tomorrow.

Hear the tournament championship series next week on KBear 102.3.
