Anibal Sanchez turned in nearly eight shutout innings, as the Detroit Tigers blanked the Chicago Cubs 6-0 last night. Sanchez gave up six singles, and struck out seven, before leaving with two outs in the eighth. Joba Chamberlain and Alex Wilson closed the game out. Rajai Davis had a double and a triple, and preserved the shutout with a leaping catch of a potential home run ball at the fence in left-center field in the second inning.

The Tigers wrap up that quick interleague series against the Cubs tonight in Detroit. Shane Greene will start against Jake Arrieta. Hear the first pitch at 7:08 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

Justin Verlander will make his 2015 debut in Saturday’s home game against Cleveland. Verlander has missed the entire season with a triceps strain.

Taylor Jungmann gave up just one run over seven innings in his major league debut, as the Milwaukee Brewers got past the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-1. Jungman surrendered just three hits, and struck out five. Jason Rogers and Aramis Ramirez each hit two-run homers for the Brewers.

Milwaukee concludes that set at Pittsburgh tonight. Kyle Lohse will start against Charlie Morton.
