High School

In high school baseball yesterday…
• Lake Linden-Hubbell swept Ontonagon 21-14 and 17-2.

In baseball today…
• Calumet and Houghton compete at the Negaunee Invitational.
• Jeffers entertains Westwood.

In softball yesterday…
• Houghton blanked L’Anse 15-0 and 17-0. Grace Brunet tossed a three-inning no-hitter in the opener. Gwen Markham had three hits, including a double. Estella Soumis gave up two hits over five innings in the nightcap. Kia Markham had three hits, including a double.
• Hancock downed Ironwood 15-0 and 20-5. Sadie Biekkola was the winning pitcher in game one. Sydnie Scholie got the win in game two.
• Lake Linden-Hubbell swept Baraga, 8-7 and 18-12. Emily Jokela struck out 13 in the opener, and Marissa Sullivan had three hits for the Lakes. Emmy Bobula had three hits for the Vikings. In the second contest, Kara Kinnunen earned the win in the circle. Cleo Milkey had three hits for the Lakes, and Corey Jahfetson had three for the Vikings, including a home run.

NBA

In NBA Tournament conference semifinals yesterday…

In the Eastern Conference…
• The Heat dispatched the Knicks 96-92. Miami wins that series 4-2. They’ll move on to the conference finals against the winner of tomorrow’s game between the Celtics and 76ers.

In the Western Conference…
• The Lakers eliminated the Warriors 122-101. L-A wins that series 4-2, and will face the Nuggets in the conference finals.

NHL

In NHL second-round playoff games yesterday…

In the Eastern Conference…
• The Panthers eliminated the Maple Leafs 3-2 in overtime. Florida wins that set 4-1.

In the Western Conference…
• The Golden Knights shaded the Oilers 4-3. Vegas leads that series 3-2.

Today…

In the Western Conference…
• The Kraken welcome the Stars. Dallas leads that set 3-2.

MLB

The Tigers fell to the Mariners 9-2 last evening. Matthew Boyd struggled, giving up six runs before leaving in the second inning. Jake Rogers homered.

The Tigers host the Mariners again this afternoon. Alex Faedo will start against Bryce Miller. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit’s demotion of starter Spencer Turnbull to Toledo has been rescinded. Instead, Turnbull has been placed on the injured list because of neck soreness.

The Brewers shut down the Royals 5-1. Corbin Burnes gave up two hits over six shutout innings. Owen Miller had three hits, including a home run.

Those teams play in Milwaukee again this evening. Adrian Houser will pitch against Zack Greinke.
