MLB – Tigers Fall in 14th
Neil Walker’s double off Tom Gorzelanny in the 14th inning drove in the winning run, as the Pittsburgh Pirates edged the Detroit Tigers 5-4 last night. The Tigers fell behind early, as Justin Verlander gave up a run in the second, and two in the third. He wound up pitching into the seventh inning. Detroit came back, and tied the game when J.D. Martinez hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth. The Tigers used eight pitchers in the game.

Detroit will continue that home set against the Pirates tonight. Alfredo Simon will pitch against A.J. Burnett. Hear the first pitch at 7:08 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

The Milwaukee Brewers scored twice in the eighth inning to earn a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies last night. Taylor Jungmann gave up all three Philly runs over six innings. Neal Cotts pitched to one batter, and qualified for the win in relief.

The buyout will cost Detroit nearly 10 million dollars, which will be paid out over six seasons, to minimize salary cap damage. Weiss was hampered by injuries, and played in just half of Detroit’s games the past two seasons.
