High School
In high school baseball today…
– Hancock plays at Houghton
– Jeffers faces Calumet in a doubleheader that will be played at the Hancock Driving Park.

In track, the Ontonagon Invitational set for today has been canceled. Several local teams will run at the Lakes Invitational at Lake Linden.

At the L’Anse boys golf tournament yesterday, Ontonagon took the team title, edging out Houghton by three strokes. Calumet finished third, 10 strokes back. Ben Strong of the Gremlins was the individual winner, with a 75.

MLB
The Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians were rained out yesterday. No make-up date has been announced.

Aguilar

The Tigers open a West Coast trip tonight at Oakland. Michael Fulmer will pitch against Andrew Triggs. Pregame coverage will begin at 9:40 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

Jesús Aguilar’s pinch-hit home run in the seventh inning lifted the Milwaukee Brewers to a 5-4 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals last night. Aguilar’s blast was his first in the major leagues. Keon Broxton had four hits, including a home run. Chase Anderson gave up four runs before leaving in the fifth inning. Oliver Drake got the win in relief, and Neftalí Feliz earned his eighth save.

The Brewers will open a weekend series at Pittsburgh tonight. Jimmy Nelson will start against Chad Kuhl.

NHL
In the NHL playoffs last night…
– The Rangers defeated the Senators 4-1. That series is tied 2-2.

Tonight…
– The Ducks host the Oilers. That series is tied 2-2.
– The Blues welcome the Predators. Nashville leads that set 3-1.

NBA
In the NBA playoffs last night…
– The Wizards downed the Celtics 116-89. Boston leads that series 2-1.
– The Warriors got past the Jazz 115-104. Golden State leads that set 2-0.

Tonight…
– The Rockets host the Spurs. That series is tied 1-1.

MTU
Michigan Tech has released its 2017-2018 hockey schedule. The Huskies will tune up at the Ice breaker Tournament in Duluth October 6th and 7th. They’ll open their Western Collegiate Hockey Association schedule at Lake Superior State the following weekend, and host the Lakers December 15th and 16th. They’ll play home-and-home series against Northern Michigan on November 10th and 11th, and on the final weekend of the regular season, February 23rd and 24th. They’ll also join the Wildcats at the first Ice Vegas Invitational in Las Vegas, January 5th and 6th. The Huskies will host Bemidji State in the Winter Carnival series February 9th and 10th. Arizona State will make its first trip to Houghton February 16th and 17th. The dates for the Great Lakes Invitational will be announced in June. To see the full Tech schedule, click here. Finlandia
The Finlandia University softball team is seeded first in the inaugural American Collegiate Athletic Association tournament this weekend in Canton, New York. The Lions will open the double-elimination tourney against fourth seed SUNY-Delhi tomorrow at noon. Maine-Presque Isle and SUNY-Canton are the other two teams in the competition.

Our high school spring sports coverage will continue Monday, as the Calumet softball team plays a doubleheader at Lake Linden-Hubbell. Pregame coverage will start around 3:45 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.
