Tech Falls in GLIAC Volleyball Final – Monday Sports Wrap

MTU
The Michigan Tech volleyball team lost a close 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 27-25) decision to Ferris State in the championship match of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament yesterday. Mariah Sherman led the Huskies with 14 kills. Elle Heinonen had 20 digs. The Huskies reached the final by eliminating second seed Northern Michigan 3-1 in the semifinals Saturday. Lauren Emmert and MacAulay Petersen were named to All-Tournament Team.

The MTU women’s team will host Minnesota-Duluth tonight. Tip-off is at 6:00 at the SDC.

NMU
The NMU women’s basketball team lost 74-63 to Minnesota State-Moorhead yesterday.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings fell to the Colorado Avalanche 4-3 in overtime last evening. Goals by Justin Abdelkader, Andreas Athanasiou and Niklas Kronwall gave Detroit a 3-1 lead early in the third period, but Colorado tied the contest with 46 seconds remaining in regulation. Jimmy Howard took the loss in net. The Wings host the Edmonton Oilers Wednesday night. Pregame coverage begins at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons came from 11 points down in the fourth quarter, and edged the Minnesota Timberwolves 100-97 last night. Andre Drummond had 20 points and 16 rebounds. The Pistons host the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight.

NFL
The Detroit Lions needed a late 52-yard field goal from Matt Prater to pull out a 27-24 victory over the Chicago Bears yesterday. Matthew Stafford threw for 299 yards and two touchdowns.

The Green Bay Packers turned the ball over five times, and dropped a 23-0 decision to the Baltimore Ravens yesterday.

In last night’s game, the Philadelphia Eagles dominated the Dallas Cowboys 37-9.

Tonight, the Atlanta Falcons visit the Seattle Seahawks. Hear the broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.
