Tigers Allow 6 HR’s in 6th Straight Loss – Tuesday Sports Wrap

MLB

The Detroit Tigers’ losing streak reached six games last night, as they fell to the Chicago White Sox 7-2. Matthew Boyd struck out nine batters over four innings, but gave up three runs and took the loss. The Sox clubbed six home runs. Isaac Paredes singled and drove home both Detroit runs in his major league debut.

The Tigers continue that set against the White Sox in Chicago tonight. Tarik Skubal will start against Dylan Cease. Coverage begins at 7:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Tigers shifted their youth movement into a higher gear yesterday, calling up three of their top prospects from Toledo. Paredes debuted at third base last night. Skubal will start this evening’s game. Casey Mize is scheduled to start tomorrow night.

The starting pitchers are needed because Jordan Zimmermann, Ivan Nova and Dario Agrazal are on the injured list. Paredes got the opportunity when Jeimer Candelario moved to first base, after C.J. Cron was lost for the season. To help make room, infielder Dawel Lugo has been designated for assignment.

The Milwaukee Brewers were off yesterday, and begin a series against the Twins in Minnesota tonight. Corbin Burnes will pitch against Kenta Maeda.

NFL

The Detroit Lions have signed running back Jonathan Williams. Williams is a power back who entered the league four years ago. He’s played for the Bills, the Saints and the Colts, but his career has been slowed because of injuries. The Lions released running back Wes Hills to make room on the roster.

CFL

The Canadian Football League has canceled its season. This will be the first time since 1919 that the Grey Cup will not be awarded.
