Tigers Blanked – Thursday Sports Wrap

MLB

The Detroit Tigers fell quietly to the Philadelphia Phillies 4-0 yesterday. Jordan Zimmermann suffered through another short start, giving up four runs on eight hits before leaving in the fifth inning. Tigers batters collected just five hits.

The Tigers open a series in Seattle against the Mariners tonight. Drew VerHagen will be brought up from Toledo to pitch against Matt Wisler. Pregame coverage will start at 9:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers overcame another shaky start by Jhoulys Chacín to edge the Cincinnati Reds 5-4 yesterday. Chacín gave up all four Cincy runs over three innings, and left the game with discomfort in his ribs. Ryan Braun and Keston Hiura homered. Freddy Peralta earned his first major league save.

The Brewers have today off, and host the Chicago Cubs tomorrow night. Gio Gonzalez will start against Kyle Hendricks.

Chacín will be evaluated today, but team officials have already said he’s likely to join fellow starter Brandon Woodruff on the injured list.
