MLB – Tigers Shut Out; Brewers Fall
The Tampa Bay Rays slugged four home runs, and beat the Detroit Tigers 8-0 last night. Kyle Lobstein gave up two of the blasts. He was charged with five runs before leaving in the sixth inning, and took the loss. Game details are here.

Pitcher Buck Farmer left last night’s game with tightness in his throwing arm. He’ll be evaluated today.

Tom Koehler struck out 10 over eight innings, as the Miami Marlins stopped the Milwaukee Brewers 5-2 last night. Ariel Pena turned in a decent effort in his first major league start, giving up two runs over five innings. Tyler Cravy took the loss in relief. Game details are here.

The Brewers begin at four-game set at Pittsburgh tonight. Wily Peralta will pitch against A.J. Burnett.

Jonathan Lucroy missed last night’s game, after experiencing concussion symptoms. Lucroy was hit on the jaw by a foul ball in Tuesday’s loss.

Finlandia Lions New LogoThe Finlandia University men’s soccer team suffered its first loss of the season yesterday, falling to Martin Luther College 4-3. The game was tied at two until the Knights scored in the 81st minute. The Lions retied it in the 83rd minute, but MLC scored the game-winner a minute later. Alex Freeman scored twice for Finlandia, and Christopher Johnson scored once.

The Finlandia women’s team fell to Martin Luther 11-0.

The Michigan Tech volleyball team takes on Upper Iowa at the Upper Iowa Invitational in Fayette, Iowa, tonight.

NFL – Cobb to Play on Sunday
Green Bay Packers’ receiver Randall Cobb practiced with the team yesterday, and says he’ll play in Sunday’s opener against the Bears. Cobb sprained his shoulder in a preseason game two weeks ago.

The Detroit Lions will likely be without linebacker DeAndre Levy when they open against the Chargers on Sunday. The team has revealed that he’s dealing with a hip injury. There are some reports that it could keep him out for an extended period.
