The Michigan Tech hockey team has added a goalie. Derek Mullahy is transferring in, after four years playing at Harvard.

NBA

The NBA tournament field is set. Last night, the Heat won the Eastern Conference play-in game, 112-91 over the Bulls. In the Western Conference play-in contest, the Pelicans held off the Kings 105-98.

First-round action begins today.

MLB

Wenceel Pérez singled home Parker Meadows with the winning run with two outs in the top of the ninth inning, as the Tigers shaded the Twins 5-4 last night. It was his third hit of the night. Spencer Torkelson also had three hits, and Kerry Carpenter logged four. Jack Flaherty gave up two runs in the first inning, and two more in the sixth, when he was hurt by some sloppy defensive play.

The Tigers visit the Twins again today. Reese Olson will start against Bailey Ober. Coverage will start at 1:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Gio Urshela left last night’s game after injuring a hamstring while running the bases. He’ll be evaluated today.

Detroit pitching prospect Sawyer Gipson-Long will miss the entire the season. He’ll need reconstructive surgery on his elbow.

William Contreras’ RBI single in the top of the 10th lifted the Brewers past the Cardinals 2-1. Contreras also doubled home Milwaukee’s other run in the third inning. Freddy Peralta struck out seven over six scoreless innings.

The Brewers play at St. Louis again this afternoon. D.L. Hall will pitch against Miles Mikolas.

Milwaukee has activated pitcher Trevor Megill from the concussion list. First baseman Jake Bauers has been placed on the bereavement list. Infielder Andruw Monasterio has been recalled from Triple-A Nashville.
