Tigers, Brewers Fall – Monday Sports Wrap

Matthew Boyd struggled again, as the Detroit Tigers lost 12-2 to the Cleveland Indians yesterday. Boyd gave up six runs before leaving in the fourth inning. Artie Lewicki relieved him, pitched into the eighth, and gave up the other six runs on three home runs – one a grand slam by Edwin Encarnacion.

The Tigers return home to entertain the Oakland Athletics this afternoon. Jordan Zimmermann will pitch against former Tiger Edwin Jackson. Pregame coverage will begin at 2:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers scored twice in the first inning, but were held off the board after that in an 8-2 loss to the Saint Louis Cardinals yesterday. Saint Louis broke the game open with a five-run fourth inning. Milwaukee starter Jhoulys Chacín struggled into the top of the fifth, but was charged with all eight runs, and took the loss. Christian Yelich homered for the Crew.

The Brewers have today off, and host the Kansas City Royals in an interleague series beginning tomorrow night. Freddy Peralta will start against Jakob Junis.
