Tigers, Brewers Resume Tonight – Friday Sports Wrap

MLB
The Detroit Tigers and Milwaukee Brewers both return to action tonight after the All-Star break.

The Tigers open a home series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Justin Verlander will pitch against Aaron Sanchez. Pregame coverage begins at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers host the Philadelphia Phillies. Zach Davies will start against Nick Pivetta.

The Brewers have acquired reliever Tyler Webb from the Yankees. In exchange, they sent first base prospect Garrett Cooper to New York. Michael Blazek will be optioned back to Colorado Springs to make room for Webb on the roster.

Twilight League
Both of the Copper Country Twilight League baseball games scheduled for last night were rained out.

Fast Pitch Softball
The Copper Country Fast Pitch Softball League All-Star game will be played this evening at 7:00 at the Chassell Field. The post-season tournament will open Monday night.

Canal Run
The annual Canal Run will be held tomorrow. The event includes a half marathon, five and 10-mile runs and walks, and a kids’ dash. Online registration has closed, but onsite registration will be held this afternoon between 3:00 and 8:00 at the Finnish-American Heritage Center. There will be no registration tomorrow morning. The annual pre-race pasta dinner will be served between 4:30 and 7:30, also at the Finnish-American Heritage Center. For full details, click here.
