High School
In high school baseball, Calumet will take on Traverse City St. Francis in the high school baseball tournament regional semifinals tomorrow at 10:00 in Charlevoix. Our broadcast coverage will begin around 9:40 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com. We’ll also broadcast the regional final at 2:00, if the Copper Kings advance.

MLB
The Detroit Tigers exploded for five runs in the first inning, and cruised to a 7-2 win over the Boston Red Sox last night. Leonys Martin’s two-run homer was the big blow. Matthew Boyd pitched into the seventh inning, and gave up two runs on just four hits.

The Tigers return home to host the Cleveland Indians tonight. Michael Fulmer will pitch against Trevor Bauer. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Alex Wilson relieved Boyd in the seventh inning, and retired the two batters he faced. Wilson had spent nearly a month on the disabled list with a foot problem. Infielder Ronny Rodriguez was sent down to Toledo to make room.

The Milwaukee Brewers had yesterday off, and begin a series at Philadelphia tonight. Jhoulys Chacín will start against Vince Velasquez.

Twilight League
In Copper Country Twilight League baseball last night, Wolverine-Orbit got past Superior National Bank-Stanton 8-6.

NHL
The Washington Capitals are celebrating their first-ever NHL championship. The Caps defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 last evening, to take the Stanley Cup series four games to one. Alex Ovechkin won the Conn Smythe trophy as the series’ most valuable player.

NBA
The Golden State Warrior could wrap up the NBA Championship Series tonight in Cleveland. The Warriors lead the Cavaliers three games to none.

Finlandia
Marquette High School volleyball standout Lauren Wilkinson will join the team at Finlandia University this fall. Wilkinson was named to the All-Great Northern Conference second team last season.

Fishing
The Keweenaw Bay Classic Fishing Tournament takes place tomorrow at the Baraga County Lake Trout Festival. There are prizes for lake trout and salmon caught on Keweenaw and Huron Bays. A mandatory captains meeting will be held tonight at 6:00 at Meadowbrook Arena. You can still sign up at the meeting tonight. If you plan to do so, please arrive early. If you’d like to save some time, download the registration form here, and fill it out in advance.

The Ontonagon Kids Fishing Derby will be held tomorrow. There are lots of prizes, and fun activities for the kids beginning at 10:00 at the Ontonagon Marina.

The Rice Lake Fishing Tournament will be held Sunday. Registration begins at 7:00 at the Lake Linden-Hubbell Sportsmen’s Association clubhouse.
