Tigers Drop Two – Thursday Sports Wrap

MLB

The Detroit Tigers lost both of their games against the Chicago White Sox yesterday, dropping the afternoon contest 7-5, and falling 9-6 in 12 innings in the nightcap.

Daniel Norris gave up six runs over five innings in the opener. Jeimer Candelario homered. In the second game, Tyler Alexander allowed two runs over five innings in his major league debut. Detroit built a 5-2 lead, but Chicago tied the game in the seventh with three runs off Victor Alcántara, Daniel Stumpf and José Cisnero. Each team scored in the 10th inning. José Abreu’s three run homer off Nick Ramirez in the bottom of the 12th was the game-winner.

The Tigers play at Chicago again this afternoon. Matthew Boyd will start against Reynaldo López. Pregame coverage will begin at 1:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers got only four hits in a 3-0 loss to the Cincinnati Reds last night. The offensive power failure wasted a good start by Jhoulys Chacín, who gave up just two runs over six innings.

The Brewers will play at Cincinnati again this afternoon. Brandon Woodruff will pitch against Luis Castillo.

NBA

It’s not quite déjà vu. The Detroit Pistons have signed free agent forward Markieff Morris to a two-year contract. Morris split time between the Washington Wizards and Oklahoma City Thunder last season, averaging nine points and five rebounds per game. Markeiff’s twin brother, Marcus, played for Detroit in the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

Former Pistons center Boban Marjanovic has signed a free agent deal with the Dallas Mavericks.
