MLB
Jordan Zimmermann struggled last night, as the Detroit Tigers fell 5-4 to the Kansas City Royals. Zimmermann gave up four runs over five innings. The Royals added a final score off Buck Farmer in the sixth. They needed it. Detroit began a comeback bid when Victor Martinez hit a three-run homer in the seventh – his first in two months. Nicholas Castellanos tripled, and scored on a groundout in the ninth inning, but Martinez struck out to end the game.

The Tigers wrap up that series at Kansas City this afternoon. Matthew Boyd will start against Danny Duffy. Pregame coverage begins at 1:50 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Milwaukee Brewers came from behind to edge the Washington Nationals 5-4 in 10 innings last evening. Washington scored all their runs in the first two innings off Junior Guerra. Guerra settled down, and completed six frames. The Crew’s comeback began when they scored three runs in the fifth inning – two on a Christian Yelich home run. They tied the game on an RBI single by Lorenzo Cain in the seventh. Tyler Saladino’s bases-loaded sacrifice fly won the game in the bottom of the 10th.

The Brewers will host the Nationals again this afternoon. Freddy Peralta will pitch against Tanner Roark.

Both Guerra and Eric Thames were reinstated from the Disabled List for last night’s game. Brandon Woodruff and Nate Orf were sent down to Colorado Springs to make room.
