MLB
The Detroit Tigers’ offense struggled again last night, as they lost 5-1 to the Cleveland Indians. Detroit collected just three hits – one, a solo home run by Leonys Martin. Tigers starter Jordan Zimmermann left the game in the first inning, after he was hit on the jaw by a line drive. X-rays showed no damage, and he says he’ll be ready for his next start. Daniel Norris relieved him, and took the loss after giving up four runs in the fourth inning.

The Tigers have lost three in a row, and have scored only three runs in their past four games. They’ll conclude that series in Cleveland tonight. Michael Fulmer will start against Trevor Bauer. Pregame coverage begins at 5:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

After the game, Detroit sent struggling outfielder Mikie Mahtook down to Toledo. After using four relievers last night, they’re expected to add some bullpen help this morning.

Homers by Hernán Pérez and Eric Thames lifted the Milwaukee Brewers to a 3-2 victory over the Saint Louis Cardinals yesterday afternoon. Junior Guerra earned the win, giving up a run on four hits before leaving in the sixth.

The Brewers have today off, and open a series in New York against the Mets tomorrow night. Zach Davies will pitch against Steven Matz.

Along with calling Guerra up from Colorado Springs to make last night’s start, the Brewers also brought up reliever Jorge López. They sent outfielder Brett Phillips down to the Sky Sox, and designated reliever J.J. Hoover for assignment.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons’ season ended with a 119-87 victory over the Chicago Bulls last night. Luke Kennard led Detroit with 23 points. Anthony Tolliver added 18. With Andre Drummond on the bench with an injury, Eric Moreland had 16 points and 17 rebounds.

NHL
On the opening night of the NHL playoffs, the Jets edged the Wild 3-2, the Penguins blanked the Flyers 7-0, and the Golden Knights got past the Kings 1-0. The remaining opening-round series begin tonight. The Devils visit the Lightning, the Maple Leafs play at Boston, the Capitals host the Blue Jackets, the Avalanche visit the Predators, and the Sharks skate at Anaheim.

Little League
Baraga County Little League will hold its final registration session today at 5:00 at the L’Anse Public Library.
