MLB
The Detroit Tigers dropped their fourth straight game last night, falling 9-3 to the Cleveland Indians. Michael Fulmer struggled into the fourth inning, and was charged with all nine Cleveland runs. Nicholas Castellanos had two hits and drove in two runs for Detroit.

The Tigers entertain the New York Yankees tonight. Mike Fiers will start against Jordan Montgomery. Pregame coverage begins at 5:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit will be without pitching coach Chris Bosio for the next 14 days. Bosio was sidelined earlier this week with a medical condition. No one’s telling what the medical condition is, but manager Ron Gardenhire says it has been addressed, and doctors have prescribed a couple of weeks at home for recuperation.

The Milwaukee Brewers had yesterday off, and open a series in New York against the Mets tonight. Zach Davies will pitch against Steven Matz.

Finlandia
The Finlandia University baseball team is scheduled to play doubleheaders at the University of Chicago today and tomorrow.

MTU
The Michigan Tech men’s basketball team has added another recruit for next season. Jalen Carter is a guard who averaged 17 points, five assists and four steals per game at Chicago Lindblom High School.

NHL
In NHL playoff action last night, the Bruins defeated the Maple Leafs 5-1, the Lightning downed the Devils 5-1, the Blue Jackets edged the Capitals 4-3 in overtime, the Predators outskated the Avalanche 5-2, and the Sharks blanked the Ducks 3-0. Each winner leads their series one game to none.

Tonight, the Flyers visit the Penguins, the Wild visit the Jets, and the Kings visit the Golden Knights. Pittsburgh, Winnipeg and Las Vegas hold 1-0 leads in those series.

Detroit Red Wings prospect Dominic Turgeon has been diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome. He had a blood clot removed from his arm Wednesday, and will undergo further treatments. Turgeon has been removed from the playoff roster of the Grand Rapids Griffins, but is expected to make a full recovery.
