In the NBA tournament yesterday…
• The 76ers got past the Wizards 125-118. Philadelphia takes a 1-0 series lead.
• The Suns stopped the Lakers 99-90. Phoenix leads that series 1-0.
• The Hawks edged the Knicks 107-105. Atlanta goes up 1-0 in that series.
• The Grizzlies shaded the Jazz 112-109. Memphis leads that set 1-0.

On the schedule today…
• The Bucks entertain the Heat. Milwaukee leads that series 1-0.
• The Nuggets host the Trail Blazers. Portland has a 1-0 lead in that set.

NHL

In the NHL playoffs yesterday…
• The Predators edged the Hurricanes 4-3 in double overtime. That series is tied 2-2.
• The Avalanche dumped the Blues 5-2. Colorado wins that series 4-0.
• The Bruins defeated the Capitals 3-1. Boston claims that series 4-1.
• The Jets shaded the Oilers 5-4 in overtime. Winnipeg leads that series 3-0.

On today’s schedule…
• The Penguins host the Islanders. That series is tied 2-2.
• The Canadiens welcome the Maple Leafs. That set is tied 1-1.
• The Panthers entertain the Lightning. Tampa Bay leads that series 3-1.
• The Jets host the Oilers. Winnipeg is up 3-0 in that series.
• The Golden Knights welcome the Wild. Vegas leads that set 3-1.

NFL

NFL pre-season schedules have been finalized. With the expansion of the regular season to 17 games, most teams will play just three exhibitions. The Detroit Lions host the Buffalo Bills August 13th, visit the Pittsburgh Steelers August 21st, and entertain the Indianapolis Colts August 27th. The Green Bay Packers welcome the Houston Texans August 14th, host the New York Jets August 21st, and visit the Buffalo Bills August 28th.

MLB

Michael Fulmer gave up a two-run homer to Carlos Santana in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Detroit Tigers fell to the Kansas City Royals 3-2 yesterday. The late blow spoiled another good start by Casey Mize, who pitched six shutout innings, and left as the Royals scored once in the seventh. He allowed just three hits, and struck out six. Both of Detroit’s runs came in the first inning, on RBI singles from Jeimer Candelario and Eric Haase.

The Tigers host the Cleveland Indians tonight. Spencer Turnbull will start against Sam Hentges. Coverage begins at 6:50 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit has sent struggling outfielder JaCoby Jones down to Toledo. Victor Reyes has been called back up.

The Milwaukee Brewers built an early lead, and cruised past the Cincinnati Reds 9-4 yesterday. The Crew scored three times in the first inning. Avisaíl García homered in the third, and Christian Yelich had an RBI single in the sixth, and hit his first home run of the year in the ninth.

The Brewers welcome the San Diego Padres tonight. Brandon Woodruff will pitch against Blake Snell.
