MLB
Ramón Laureano’s single off Buck Farmer in the bottom of the 13th inning drove home the winning run, as the Oakland Athletics shaded the Detroit Tigers 1-0 last night. Both starting pitchers were brilliant. Detroit’s Blaine Hardy carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning. Oakland’s Brett Anderson retired the first 16 batters in order. In the 13th, the rookie Laureano was the hero in his first major league game – throwing out José Iglesias from the outfield, after Iglesias stole second base, and tried to advance on an overthrow in the top of the inning, and then driving home the winning run with his first big-league hit.

Detroit Tigers continue that series against the Athletics in Oakland tonight. Jordan Zimmermann will start against Edwin Jackson. Pregame coverage begins at 8:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

Eric Thames’ three-run homer with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning powered the Milwaukee Brewers to a 5-3 come-from-behind win over the Colorado Rockies last night. Christian Yelich also homered for Milwaukee. Junior Guerra turned in eight strong innings, giving up three runs on five hits. Corbin Burnes got the win in relief.

The Brewers host the Rockies again tonight. Freddy Peralta will pitch against Tyler Anderson.
