Tigers Open Playoffs
The Detroit Tigers open their American League Divisional Series against the Orioles in Baltimore tonight. Max Scherzer will pitch against Chris Tillman. Hear the first pitch at 5:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

Last night, the Giants advanced to the National League playoffs, with an 8-0 victory over the Pirates in the wild card play-in game last night. That means the second game of Detroit’s series will be played tomorrow at noon in Baltimore. Justin Verlander will start. Game three will be Sunday at 3:30. David Price will pitch.

Tech Prepares for Hockey Opener
The Michigan Tech hockey team is sharpening the skates for this weekend’s season-opening games at Lake Superior State. Coach Mel Pearson is ready… PEARSON A. The strength of the team will be that group of experienced forwards… PEARSON B. The Huskies will see a familiar face on the Lakers’ bench. Former Tech assistant coach Damon Whitten takes over as the head coach at Lake State. Whitten inherits a team that lost several key players to early pro signings… creating opportunities for those left behind… WHITTEN. The Huskies and Lakers play tomorrow evening and Sunday evening at the Soo.

You can learn more about this year’s Tech hockey team at a Meet the Coaches session tonight. Coach Pearson and his assistants will be available between 7:00 and 8:30 at the Begg Players’ Lounge in the Grant Hockey Educational Center.
