NHL

The Red Wings welcome the Canadiens tonight, in a game they must win to keep their playoff hopes alive. Coverage begins at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit remains tied with Washington and Philadelphia for the final wild card playoff berth in the Eastern Conference. Pittsburgh is one standings point back. The Wings, Capitals and Penguins each have two games remaining in the regular season. Philadelphia has one. The Capitals hold the tiebreaker advantage.

NBA

The Pistons concluded their season with a lackluster 123-95 loss to the Spurs yesterday. The bright spot was James Wiseman, who scored 21 points, and snared 17 rebounds. Detroit finishes with a record of 14 wins and 68 losses – the worst record in the NBA, and the worst record in team history.

MLB

The Tigers scored four times in the eighth inning, and claimed a 4-3 comeback victory over the Twins yesterday. Javier Báez opened the inning with a home run. Mark Canha’s double off the glove of Twins third baseman Kyle Farmer plated two more, and Spencer Torkelson’s Texas-league single over a drawn-in infield drove in the game-winner. Jack Flaherty pitched into the seventh, giving up three runs on six hits.

The Tigers open a four-game home stand against the Rangers tonight. Reese Olson will start against former Tiger Michael Lorenzen. Because of Red Wings hockey, there will be no broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.

The Brewers dropped a 6-4 decision to the Orioles yesterday. William Contreras and Blake Perkins homered. Colin Rea pitched into the sixth inning, allowing three runs on five hits.

The Brewers host the Padres for a three-game set beginning tonight. Joe Ross will pitch against Joe Musgrove.

Christian Yelich missed yesterday’s game because of back problems. He’s still considered day-to-day, but team officials decided to add some outfield depth by calling up Joey Wiemer from Nashville. Infielder Andruw Monasterio has been sent down.

Milwaukee has claimed pitcher Corbin Martin off waivers from the Diamondbacks. He’s been assigned to the Sounds.
