Tigers Snap Eight-Game Skid – Monday Sports Wrap

The Detroit Tigers snapped their eight-game losing streak with a 7-5 come-from-behind victory over the San Diego Padres yesterday. Detroit fell behind early, as Jordan Zimmermann gave up five runs over four innings. The comeback began with three runs in the fourth inning. Nicholas Castellanos tied the game with a two-run homer in the sixth. Mikie Mahtook singled home two runs in the top of the ninth to provide the winning margin. Bruce Rondon got the win in his first relief appearance since being called up on Friday. Justin Wilson pitched a perfect ninth to earn the save.

Davies

The Tigers take today off, and open a home set against the Kansas City Royals tomorrow night. Justin Verlander will start against Matt Strahm. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Zach Davies turned in seven shutout innings, as the Milwaukee Brewers blanked the Atlanta Braves 7-0 yesterday. Travis Shaw and Keon Broxton homered.

The Brewers are off today, and begin a series at Cincinnati tomorrow night. Junior Guerra will pitch against Tim Adleman.

– At the Houghton field, Auto Pro Glass and Tire faces Northern Michigan Land Brokers at 5:45, and then meets  Mattila Rock and Dock at 7:15.
– At the Chassell Field, Frank A. Douglass Agency takes on Calumet Golf Club/Loading Zone at 5:45. Calumet/Campioni’s True Value plays Superior National Bank at 7:15.
