MLB – Tigers Take Cleveland Series
The Detroit Tigers took an early lead against the Cleveland Indians yesterday, then held on to claim an 8-6 victory. Kyle Lobstein gave up three runs over seven innings to earn the win. Miguel Cabrera homered, and drove in three runs.

The Tigers open a series at Minnesota tonight. David Price will start against Tommy Milone. We’ll join the game after Red Wings hockey on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

Rajai Davis left yesterday’s game in the eighth inning with tightness in his right groin. Davis says he hopes the injury isn’t serious. He’s considered “day to day.”

The Milwaukee Brewers got past the Saint Louis Cardinals 6-3 yesterday. Saint Louis pounded out 13 hits, but left 14 runners on base. Mike Fiers gave up nine of those hits before leaving in the fifth inning, but only two runs. Michael Blazek got the win in relief. Adam Lind homered for Milwaukee.

The Brewers open a set at Cincinnati tonight. Jimmy Nelson will pitch against Jason Marquis.

NHL – Red Wings
The Detroit Red Wings could advance to the next round of the NHL playoffs with a victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight. Detroit leads the best-of-seven opening-round series three games to two. Face-off at the Joe Louis Arena is at 7:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

Finlandia Baseball Drops Two
The Finlandia baseball team lost two at Illinois Tech Saturday, 12-1 and 16-0. In the two games, the Lions collected only five hits, but committed nine errors.

High School
In high school softball Saturday, Hancock split a pair of games with Niagara, losing the first 9-2, but winning the second 23-22.

On Friday, the Bulldogs lost twice to Rapid River, 15-2 and 10-0. Houghton took two from Lake Linden-Hubbell, 15-9 and 12-3.

This afternoon, L’Anse plays at Baraga.

In high school baseball this afternoon, Houghton plays at Marquette.
