MLB – Tigers Win in 10th
Ian Kinsler singled home Anthony Gose with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning, as the Detroit Tigers edged the Minnesota Twins 2-1 last night. J.D. Martinez gave Detroit an early lead with a fourth-inning homer – his first since April 29th. Alfredo Simon carried a shutout into the eighth inning, when former Tiger Torii Hunter tied the game with a sacrifice fly. Angel Nesbitt earned his first major league win in relief. That series continues in Detroit tonight. Kyle Lobstein will start against Ricky Nolasco. Hear the first pitch at 7:08 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

Tigers’ starter Justin Verlander threw 25 pitches in a bullpen session yesterday, as he continues his comeback from a strained triceps muscle. Reliever Bruce Rondon threw about 15 pitches. He’s battling tendinitis as he recovers from Tommy John surgery last year.

Chris Sale struck out 11, as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 4-2 last night. Elian Herrera hit his third homer in his last three games for Milwaukee. Mike Fiers pitched into the seventh inning, and gave up just two runs. Michael Blazek gave up the game-winner in the eighth, and took the loss.

The Brewers wrap up that interleague series against the White Sox in Milwaukee tonight. Jimmy Nelson will pitch against Jose Quintana.

NFL – Lions Sign Receiver
The Detroit Lions have signed veteran receiver Lance Moore to a one-year contract. Moore played nine years with the New Orleans Saints, and spent last season with the Steelers.

MTU Hockey Adds Two
Michigan Tech has added two more hockey players for next season. Jake Lucchini is a forward who was named the most valuable player of the British Columbia Hockey League’s Interior Division in 2014-15. Angus Redmond is a goaltender who played for Salmon Arm of the British Columbia Hockey League each of the last three years.
