Friday’s face-off is at 7:07, but the Saturday game will begin at 5:07, because of the planned overnight closure of the Lift Bridge.

Tadych’s Econo Foods is offering 500 free youth tickets for Saturday’s Tech games. You can pick the tickets up at the Econo Foods service counter beginning at noon tomorrow. They’ll be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of five per person. The tickets are good for the women’s basketball game at noon, the men’s basketball game at 2:00, and the hockey game at 5:07.

NHL – Red Wings Prepare for Sabres
The Detroit Red Wings skate at Buffalo tonight. Face-off is at 7:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY. Petr Mrazek will be in goal, and Tom McCollum will back him up. The latest on starting goalie Jimmy Howard is that his groin injury could sideline him for a month or more. Regular Detroit backup Jonas Gustavsson is still out with a separated shoulder.

NBA – Pistons Edge Raptors
The Detroit Pistons trailed much of the game, but used a late surge to get past the Raptors 114-111 last night. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope hit two free throws in the closing seconds to seal the victory. Brandon Jennings led Detroit with 34 points and 10 assists. The Pistons have won nine of their last 10 games, and host the Pelicans tomorrow night. Tip-off is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

Cabrera
Cabrera

MLB – Cabrera Spring Debut Likely Delayed
Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera’s foot injury may keep him on the sidelines when spring training begins next month. Cabrera underwent surgery to repair a stress fracture and remove a bone spur. Team officials hope he’ll be cleared to resume baseball activities around the time the team gathers in Lakeland next month, but there’s no guarantee he’ll be ready for opening day in April.

NFL – Schwartz Leaves Bills
Former Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz has resigned after one season as defensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo’s defense finished fourth in the league this past season, but head coach Doug Marrone opted out of his contract recently, and former Jets coach Rex Ryan was hired to replace him. Word is that there are philosophical differences between Ryan and Schwartz.
