The Tigers broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning, highlighted by RBI singles from Victor Reyes, Jeimer Candelario and Jorge Bonifacio. Candelario added a homer in the seventh inning. Spencer Turnbull got the win, giving up just three hits over six shutout innings. All three Milwaukee runs came off José Cisnero in the ninth. Adrian Houser took the loss.

Detroit has sent struggling outfielder Christin Stewart down to Toledo. Stewart is hitting just .171 this season. A replacement will be named today.

The Brewers brought Corey Knebel off the disabled list before last night’s game. He’d been sidelined with a strained hamstring as he attempts to return from Tommy John surgery. He had been designated for assignment last week, and no team claimed him on waivers.
