MLB

The Tigers fell to the Yankees 4-2 last night. Tarik Skubal took the loss, allowing three runs over six innings. Detroit didn’t score until the bottom of the ninth, on a two-run Parker Meadows single.

The Tigers host the Yankees again this evening. Gerrit Cole will start for the Yankees. The Tigers are expected to open with a bullpen pitcher, then bring Joey Wentz in to continue the game in the second inning. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit has placed veteran reliever José Cisnero on waivers. Cisnero is in his fifth season with Detroit, but has given up 10 runs in less than four innings over his last five outings. If he is not claimed by another team, he can become a free agent.

The Tigers have placed reliever Andrew Vasquez on the injured list, with tightness in his left calf. Garrett Hill has been called up from Toledo to fill in. Detroit also claimed pitcher Bennett Sousa off waivers from the Brewers, and assigned him to the Mud Hens.

The Brewers fell 1-0 to the Cubs last night. The only run of the game came in the first inning off Corbin Burnes, who completed seven frames, and took the tough loss.

The Brewers visit the Cubs again this afternoon. Brandon Woodruff will start against Kyle Hendricks.

The loss trims Milwaukee’s lead over Chicago in the National League Central Division to four games.

Lake Superior State was picked to place last in both polls.
