Mother Nature continues to dominate the spring high school athletic season, with competitions canceled indefinitely because of weather and playing conditions.

NBA

In NBA Tournament conference semifinals yesterday…

• The 76ers outscored the Celtics 119-115. Philly takes a 1-0 lead in that series.

In the Western Conference…
• The Nuggets shut down the Suns 97-87. Denver leads that series 2-0.

NHL

In NHL playoff games yesterday…

MLB

The Tigers had yesterday off, and entertain the Mets tonight. Michael Lorenzen will start against Joey Lucchesi. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Tigers have transferred outfielder Austin Meadows to the 60-day injured list. He’s battling anxiety, and will be eligible to return no earlier than mid-June. Detroit also claimed reliever Braden Bristo off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays, and assigned him to Toledo.

The Brewers also had yesterday off, and visit the Rockies tonight. Freddy Peralta will start against Ryan Feltner. 

Milwaukee has acquired pitcher Trevor Megill from the Twins, in exchange for cash and a player to be named later. Megill has been assigned to Nashville.
