Detroit Tigers Circle LogoMLB: Tigers’ Win Streak Ends
The Tigers’ seven-game winning streak ended last night with a 4-3, 11-inning loss to the Astros. Justin Verlander gave up three runs over six innings, and left with Detroit trailing 3-2. The Tigers tied it in the eighth, when Eugenio Suarez scored on Jonathan Villar’s throwing error. Jason Castro’s homer off Blaine Hardy in the bottom of the 11th won it for Houston.

The Tigers continue that set at Houston this afternoon. Max Scherzer will face Brett Oberholtzer. Hear the first pitch at 4:10 on AM 1400, WCCY.

Kansas City won yesterday, so the Tigers’ lead in the AMerican League Central stands at three-and-a-half games.

The Brewers host the Rockies again tonight. Matt Garza will start against Jhoulys Chacin.

The Cardinals also won, so Milwaukee’s lead in the National League Central holds at five-and-a-half games.

Larkin played the past two seasons with the U.S. National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor. He’s a 17-year-old center, but he’s already graduated from high school. Larkin plans to play for the University of Michigan next season. He’s only the second American player ever to be selected in the first round by the Red Wings. The final rounds of the NHL draft take place today.

The Wings have signed goalie Jonas Gustavsson to a one-year contract. Gustavsson will continue to back up starter Jimmy Howard. Prospect Petr Mrazek will get another year of seasoning at Grand Rapids.
