Finlandia Lions New LogoThe Finlandia University volleyball team plays at Silver Lake College tonight.

The Finlandia men’s hockey team has been picked to finish 10th out of the 11 teams in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association this season. The coaches’ poll has defending champion Adrian College on top, followed closely by St. Norbert. The only team picked to have a worse record than the Lions is Aurora University, which will be playing its first season in the league, and second season overall.

The Finlandia women’s team was picked to finish last out of the seven teams in the NCHA. Adrian is projected to repeat as league champion.

The Detroit Red Wings fell to the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 last night. Petr Mrazek took the loss in goal. After opening the season with three straight wins, Detroit has now lost three in a row. The Wings skate at Calgary tomorrow night. Faceoff is at 9:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons lost to the Charlotte Hornets 99-94 in a preseason game last night. Andre Drummond led Detroit with 21 points and 15 rebounds. The Pistons close their preseason schedule at home against the Hawks tomorrow night.

MLB
The New York Mets will play in the World Series. The Mets defeated the Chicago Cubs 8-3 yesterday to sweep the National League Championship Series.

The Toronto Blue Jays extended the American League Championship Series with a 7-1 victory over the Kansas City Royals yesterday. KC leads the best-of-seven set three games to two, and could advance to the World Series with a win at home tomorrow night.
