High School

In high school football yesterday, Ontonagon fell to Carney-Nadeau 58-38.

Competition involving Houghton County high school teams should resume this week, now that face-to-face activities have been cleared by the Western U.P. Health Department. Schedules may be adjusted to try to make up some of the missed contests in some sports. We’ll update the daily schedules on our KeweenawReport.com Community Calendar as information becomes available.

The American League Championship series between the Astros and the Rays begins tonight.

The National League Championship Series between the Dodgers and the Braves opens tomorrow.

The NBA championship series continues tonight, the the Lakers leading the Heat 3-2.

The Red Wings have found their new goaltender. Former Islander Thomas Greiss signed a two-year contract yesterday. The deal is reported to be worth $7.4 million. Greiss is an 11-year veteran, and has also played for the Sharks, the Coyotes and the Penguins. In 31 games with the Isles last season, he compiled a 16-9-4 record, a 2.74 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage. Griess will share netminding responsibilities with Jonathan Bernier.

Detroit also brought in free agent defenseman Troy Stecher, on a two-year, $3.4 million deal. He has played the last four seasons with the Canucks.

The Lions and Packers are both off this weekend.

The Vikings visit the Seahawks in tonight’s contest. Coverage begins at 7:30 on 99.3 The Lift.

Neither the Titans nor the Patriots reported any new COVID-19 positives yesterday, and both teams returned to their facilities to prepare for upcoming games. The Patriots’ game against the Broncos has been moved to tomorrow, and will start at 5:00. The Titans’ match against the Bills is still scheduled for Tuesday.

If the Bills do play Tuesday, their scheduled Thursday night game against the Chiefs will be moved back to next weekend. That will leave the league without a Thursday night contest next week.

Our high school football coverage resumes Friday, when Hancock hosts Calumet. Coverage will begin at 6:40 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com. We’ll also cover Houghton, Hancock and Calumet in the opening round of the WestPAC volleyball tournament Saturday, beginning at 9:40 on KBear 102.3.
