Wings Win Late, Pistons Fall Late – Thursday Sports Wrap

The Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team used a strong second half to defeat Hillsdale College 80-68 at the Hillsdale College Thanksgiving Classic yesterday.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings edged the Boston Bruins 3-2 in overtime last night. Andreas Athansiou’s first goal of the evening in the third period forced the extra stanza. His second goal of the night won the game 49 seconds into overtime. Tyler Bertuzzi also scored, and Jimmy Howard stopped 34 shots. The Wings visit the Washington Capitals tomorrow afternoon. NBA
The Detroit Pistons’ late comeback fell short, and they lost to the Houston Rockets 126-124 last night. Blake Griffin led the Pistons with 37 points and 11 rebounds. Those teams will play again tomorrow night, in Detroit.

NFL
The Detroit Lions will host the Chicago Bears in their annual Thanksgiving Day game today at 12:30. Chase Daniel is expected to start at quarterback for Chicago, with Mitchell Trubisky suffering from a sprained shoulder. Dallas hosts Washington at 4:30, and New Orleans entertains Atlanta this evening. Hear all three games on 99.3 The Lift.
