Wolverines Edge Pioneers, Remain Unbeaten – Saturday Sports Wrap

Finlandia
The Finlandia University men’s basketball team fell 90-60 to 11th-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater in their opening game at the Nicolet National Bank tournament in De Pere last night. The Warhawks took control with a 22-0 run in the first half. Geoff Smart had 13 points and nine rebounds for the Lions. Finlandia will face Blackburn in De Pere this afternoon.

GLHL
The Calumet Wolverines overcame a three-goal deficit, and slipped past the Portage Lake Pioneers 7-6 last night. The Wolverines remain unbeaten this season. Those teams play again tonight at 7:30 at the Colosseum.

NMU
The Northern Michigan University hockey team edged seventh-ranked Minnesota State 4-3 last night. Those teams skate again tonight in Mankato.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons entertain the San Antonio Spurs tonight. Tip-off is at 7:00 on 99.3 The Lift.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings broke their three-game losing streak with a 3-2 shootout win over the New York Rangers last night. The Wings host the Pittsburgh Penguins tomorrow night. Coverage begins at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift. The Wings

NFL
All of this week’s NFL games will be played tomorrow afternoon. The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers meet at 1:00 at Ford Field. Both teams have been eliminated from the playoffs. Hear the broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.
