Wolverines Sweep Pioneers, Remain Undefeated – Sunday Sports Wrap

Finlandia
The Finlandia University men’s basketball team lost 100-70 to Blackburn College in their final game at the Nicolet National Bank tournament in De Pere last night. Geoff Smart led the Lions with 20 points.

GLHL
The Calumet Wolverines jumped ahead early, and blew past the Portage Lake Pioneers 8-2 last night. Rory Anderson had four goals and an assist for Calumet. Ed Beiring had three assists. Ian Carroll stopped 31 shots in net. Cody Simonen scored both Portage Lake goals. The Wolverines swept all four games in the two-weekend, home-and-home series, and improved to 9-0 on the season.

NMU
The Northern Michigan University hockey team lost 6-3 to seventh-ranked Minnesota State last night.

NBA
The Detroit Pistons shut down the San Antonio Spurs 93-79 last night. Reggie Bullock led Detroit with 22 points, and Luke Kennard added a career-best 20. Andre Drummond collected 21 rebounds. The Pistons are off until Wednesday, when they play at Miami.

NHL
The Detroit Red Wings host the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight. Coverage begins at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

NFL
All of this week’s NFL games will be played this afternoon. The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers meet at 1:00 at Ford Field. Both teams have been eliminated from the playoffs. Hear the broadcast on 99.3 The Lift.

NFL Network is reporting that today’s game will be the last for Detroit coach Jim Caldwell. Reports say that New England Patriots defensive coordinator Matt Patricia is a leading candidate to replace Caldwell.
